In November of 2010, Maine’s voting public will finally
get a chance to elect one of their own as Governor.
We’ve grown tired of career politicians and businessmen
telling us how we should spend our money and resources.
It’s time for the citizenry to make their presence known
by electing someone who is not disconnected from the
trials and challenges of a real life existence…someone
who works 40+ hours a week to make ends meet, lives
within a specified budget and prioritizes for the sake of
survival.
So, here’s your chance to finally make a difference and
send a strong, clear message. Maine needs to start over
and fix its own house before telling us what we can and
cannot do with ours.

Welfare is a prime example of fiscal mismanagement on the state level. Let us help those who truly need it
and not those who refuse to help themselves. Maine’s policy of throwing money away on social programs
has earned us the honor of being the number one state in the union for welfare recipients. Instead of
welcoming more people on the welfare rolls, why not welcome growth and a permanent way off of welfare?
Taking the first step is simple: limit the time frame recipients can be on welfare and stop encouraging those
to join by making the process easier and easier. Follow up on cases and make sure the system, however
imperfect, is not being abused.
Bringing business to the state is crucial, obviously. Instead of spending so much energy wooing potential
businesses that eventually turn their backs on us, let’s work to help those that are already here. It’s shameful
so many closings happen week after week. There’s absolutely no need for it. Once others see that the state
is willing to offer a hand toward the business sector, others will follow suit.
